Stepping Out Programme

Today we had our first Stepping Out session with Constable Cyrus Ching. He shared with us what to do to keep ourselves safe when we are walking on the pavements or trying to cross the roads. We must make sure that we cross a road with an adult because we are too young to cross  by ourselves. When we are crossing, we should look for safe places. Never cross behind big trucks because you can't see what is coming. If there are footpaths, we should use them when we get out of the car.
ALWAYS REMEMBER THIS CHANT-
Stop Look and listen
Before you cross the street
Use your eyes, Use your ears
Before you use your feet.

OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER:

* Don't walk on the road side of the footpath. Walk on the building side because it is safer.

* Always seat in a booster seat. It is safer for children to seat in the back seat than in the front.
seat belt on shoulder, sitting in a booster seat.
tell driver to wait until you have put on the seatbelt. Ask for help if you can't do it.

* Always get in or out from the car from the curb side not on the road side.

We must Stop! Look! Listen and Link! before we cross the driveway, especially sneaky driveways.

We need to be careful in a carpark because there are lots of cars that are either coming or going.
* Don't swing on a pole by the road.
